With the foundation of the Swiss Clinical Trial Organisation in September 2009, we reached an important step to foster academic clinical research in Switzerland. At our 1st Symposium "Clinical Research in Switzerland“ on 2 June 2010 in Lausanne we took the opportunity of the foundation of the SCTO to provide a deeper insight into current national and international trends in translational and clinical research on both the scientific and political levels.
